rest in peace....

abraham fishington reid. we knew he wasn't doing too well for the past few weeks. today he finally swam his last lap. well, actually he's not been swimming for a while now, just floating lifelessly. but may he float on forever in the heavens.

Don't speak ill of the dead there, ya smarmy octopi.

Domine Deus iustissime, te rogamus ut huic pisculo pacem sempiternam dones. Ne in baculi formam compressatur nec cum iure ullo quocumque edatur. Octopodibus iniustis at digitis liberorum viscosis vitet. Requiescat non in cloaco sordido sed in pace tua. In nomine filii tui, cui pisces placuisse videntur, amen.

Most just Lord God, we ask that You grant unto this little fishy eternal peace. May he not be pressed into a stick nor eaten with any sort of sauce. May he avoid wicked octopodes and the sticky fingers of children. May he rest not in a nasty sewer but in Your peace. In the name of Your Son, who seems to have liked fish, amen.

Sorry to learn about your loss. Regretfully I do not know any Latin prayers.

May fishy rest in peace.

thanks, everybody, for your kind words. it is kind of sad because abe was our first animal to care for as a couple. but on the other hand he was getting to look really gross so i can't imagine that he was too happy at the end of his life.

and, by the way chirper, he wasn't flushed. we buried him in our back yard.

Oooh, I'm so sorry about Abe. I was just thinking about him and how long he'd lasted. I attributed his longevity to the Fish Whisperer. Overall, Abe had a good life, and got lots of love, which is more than most fish get.

Over at Lizzy's blog, Keyser Soze points out a typo. The at before digitis should be an et. I blame it on typing during breakfast.
