our car's in the shop. again. a few weeks ago we had this car in the shop for new spark plugs. then we put the other car in the shop for something-or-other. now today the first car (the good car) is in the shop again. and this time it may be dead. on days like today i hate being an adult.
of course, as an adult i could make the decision tonight to have 2 glasses of wine and a root beer float. so it almost makes everything better.

catching up with a few things
there's been a lot going on and nothing going on. and the longer i wait to write, the harder it is to think of what to write. but here are a few things that have been happening lately.
a few weeks ago mokey got into the catnip....
twice.....
she was so in trouble. and so drunk.
we almost got this little cutie.
but it turns out he's a really sick baby and we just couldn't take on that responsibility. but he's in a good home and will be well cared for.
i went to visit family in south georgia on monday. and i brought some friends. below are some picture highlights. you can find the rest here.
it snowed in columbia on tuesday! and we got a new president! what?! the snow was documented here by steliz. the new president was documented everywhere else.
i was in charleston this week for a training and got so much information my head is going to explode. but our efforts were rewarded today because we got thai food here and dessert here. i even brought dessert home to my husband. aren't i a nice wife?*
*though, it was my bosses suggestion to bring back treats for the spouses, so i can't take all the credit for all of it.

waldie crafts
a few months back i found out that my good friend and (during- and post-) college roommate is pregnant with her first child. i wanted to make something for her and her baby as a christmas gift and i found these instructions online for making a mei tai baby carrier. it was fairly easy to make (even if you're a dummy on the sewing machine, like i am) and i think it came out really well, if i do say so myself. i gave my friend the carrier when we saw her at the wedding in dc so now i can advertise what it looked like.
it has a changeable pattern in the middle, which i thought would be important so my friend can match her child while they're out shopping (that's a joke, really). i think i gave her like 4 different patters to switch in and out.
here's a really beautiful model and her doll baby/pillow trying out the carrier.
